On the morning of November 19, 2024(Tuesday), Du Hailiang, Assistant Dean of Shanghai Kangheng Environment Co., Ltd.Research Institute, Senior Engineer, and Expert of Shanghai Science andTechnology Commission Expert Database, was invited by the Department of Energyand Power Engineering of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering ofour university to give a themed academic lecture on "China's GarbageIncineration Power Generation Technology Innovation and Low CarbonPractice". The lecture was attended by graduate supervisors from theDepartment of Energy and graduate students from the 23rd and 24th classes.

Dr. Du first pointed out based on thepolicy background of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" that thereis currently a serious carbon emission problem in the landfill treatmenttechnology of garbage and waste, which does not meet the requirements of thetimes; And clarify that waste incineration power generation technology withcarbon reduction attributes can meet the urgent needs of today's energytransformation, thereby promoting the green and low-carbon development of thesolid waste treatment industry and assisting in the supply of clean energy.

Next, Dr. Du will focus on introducing thedevelopment history and trends of waste incineration power generationtechnology. Dr. Du pointed out that since the 1980s, the domestic waste incinerationpower generation industry has gone through four stages: exploration period, initial growth period, high-speed development period, and stable developmentperiod; Dr. Du's accurate evaluation of the entire domestic incineration powergeneration industry is that it started late, had a low starting point, butdeveloped quickly. In addition, Dr. Du believes that the technology ofmunicipal solid waste incineration power generation is continuously iteratingtowards cleanliness, efficiency, and intelligence, with more efficient energyutilization, more environmentally friendly emissions, and smarter control.

Then, Dr. Du elaborated on thetechnological innovation and advantages of Kangheng Environmental Company inthe field of waste incineration power generation based on practical projects. The larger the scale of a single incinerator, the higher the power generation, and the more significant the carbon reduction benefits, "this is theexperience summarized by Kangheng Company through continuous technologicalinnovation. Dr. Du pointed out that the external dehumidification steamreheating technology developed by Kangheng Company can effectively preventequipment corrosion and greatly improve power generation efficiency, withsignificant carbon reduction benefits. This is also the technical support forKangheng Company to stand firm in the field of waste incineration powergeneration.

Finally, the graduate students presentactively asked questions, and Dr. Du provided patient and detailed answersbased on his own insights. In addition, Dr. Du provided a corresponding answerto the question of "how to further innovate carbon reduction technologiesin the future": "In fact, greenhouse gas emissions are present in alllevels of waste incineration power generation processes. What we need to do inthe future is to minimize unnecessary processes as much as possible withoutaffecting power generation efficiency, in order to improve carbon reductioneffectiveness

This lecture has enhanced the guidanceability and academic literacy of graduate supervisors in the college. Studentshave gained further understanding of the waste incineration industry, which isconducive to consolidating relevant professional theoretical knowledge and hascertain guiding significance for their future career planning.
